Subscription - Period-based access to upgrades.

Hi all,

Any idea how to achieve this: allow purchasing customers to download upgrades within certain periods.

Similar to provision of software, where, say, clients purchase Version 1.0 in January and are subsequently, and automatically, given permission to download all upgrades that are published within twelve months following. Let's call this Licensing, which is pretty much what it's called anyway.

Obviously, from the backend, we must be able to add the upgrade to the customer's account and to notify her/him that an upgrade can be downloaded.

When period expires client must renew license by returning to shop to pay for extention.

Would this require an osCommerce add-on - or is there another 'clever' way to get around this?

A 'Members Area' is been developed at the moment, which will allow this.
